Much has been written about Dwarven Runes. Since J.R.R. Tolkien's reediting of the Quenta Silmarillion along with other ancient books the various writing systems used by Dwarves have become increasingly known; many alphabets, hieroglyph sets and other odd systems have added to the Angerthas Runic writing – the first to be examined and vulgarized among non–Dwarves – and are still widely used by countless Dwarven peoples in several more or less Fantasy worlds.
    On the other hand very few information was known so far (except among the experts) about how Dwarves wrote numbers; this is a serious gap, since the first Dwarven numbering systems appeared much earlier than any other known system – probably during early Neolithic – and were adopted and adapted several times by other, non–Dwarven peoples and cultures to suit their own needs. The fact that the Indo–Arabic digit system has presently become so widely used that any other system has almost fallen into disuse is irrelevant: the historical importance of the Dwarven numbers is crucial.

    From this web page you can download a file that partially fills the historical and philological gap about Dwarven numbers; it also includes a couple of TrueType fonts featuring a version of the very same glyphs that make up the Dwarven numbering system. It is charityware: if you like the work, think about sending me the amount of money you deem fair ($ 200 at least is better): I will give it to the chief managing director of AIWJ Society (Aid to Indigent Wayfarers and Journeyfolk), Mr. BJ the Farer, who'll care it will be distributed according to needs to the affiliates (presently, one) :-).

Molto si è scritto riguardo le Rune Naniche. Dalla riedizione di J.R.R. Tolkien del Quenta Silmarillion insieme con altri antichi libri i vari sistemi di scrittura usati dai Nani sono diventati sempre più noti; molti alfabeti, serie geroglifiche e altri singolari sistemi si sono aggiunti alla scrittura runica Angerthas – la prima a essere presa in esame e divulgata presso i non Nani – e sono ancora ampiamente utilizzati da innumerevoli genti Naniche in parecchi mondi più o meno Fantasy.
    D'altronde pochissime informazioni erano sinora note (tranne che presso le persone esperte) riguardo come i Nani scrivessero i numeri; questa è una grave lacuna, dacché i primi sistemi numerici Nanici apparvero molto più precocemente di qualsiasi altro sistema conosciuto – probabilmente durante il Neolitico inferiore – e furono adottati e adattati svariate volte da altri popoli e culture non Naniche per soddisfare le loro necessità. Il fatto che il sistema a cifre Indo–Arabico sia attualmente divenuto di sì largo uso che qualsiasi altro sistema è pressoché caduto in disuso è irrilevante: L'importanza storica dei numeri Nanici è cruciale.
